General dress suggestions:
Consider the overall style of portraits that you would like (i.e., formal or casual). You may also want to take into consideration where you will hang your final portraits. Please consider the location or background for your photos. Whites and pastels are generally better suited for spring and summer photos while dark or warm tones are better for fall photos.
If your session involves multiple subjects, you may want to coordinate the clothing colors and styles. It is a good idea to have the subjects' bodies blend so that their faces stand out. It is not good to have one person stand out unless that is your intention.

Individual dress suggestions:
The key thing to keep in mind for your photo session is to choose clothes that fit correctly and make you feel good about yourself. Choose colors and patterns that complement your skin tone and body. Bright colors attract attention away from the face. Dark colors tend to slenderize and light colors tend to add weight. You may want to avoid "loud" or "wild" patterns, which can be distracting. Your photos should be enjoyed for years to come, so try to avoid styles that are too trendy.

Young Children: If young children are involved in the photo session, you might want to bring a non-messy snack and a toy for their entertainment. We like to take candid photos while they play and interact with adults. If the childen do not like to be photographed, bring something that will make them smile, like bubbles or a silly puppet. It is always a good idea to try to have them eat and use the restroom before the session.
