Business Headshot Dress:
You should dress to fit your audience and the company you represent. Choose clothes that are correctly tailored and make you feel confident about yourself.
Choose colors and patterns that compliment your skin tone and body type. Bright colors attract attention away from the face. Dark colors tend to slenderize and light colors tend to add weight. You may want to avoid "loud" or "wild" patterns which have a tendency to be distracting in photos.
Ties stored folded or hung may crease or lose form. If necessary, lay ties you plan to wear on a flat surface a couple of days prior to your session to restore its form.
In case of full length photos, the color of your shoes should match the color of your belt and the color of your socks, should match the color of your pants. Bright, colorful socks should be avoided. Women should avoid white or bright colored hosery as well.
If you have entered your 40s and beyond, classic or timeless dress styles are always safe but not necessarily dull.
In general, avoid edgy or trendy styles. In most cases, it is best to err on the conservative side. If you are not sure, refer to online stores such as Brooks Brothers for "current" variations on the classics.
